our beliefs & assumptions
Violence and abuse are about power and control and the primary root of violence and abuse lies in many types of inequalities or “isms” that exist in our society today.
Gender socialization and cultural factors can pose as barriers to encourage men to actively participate with women in reducing violence.
All forms of violence and abuse are a human problem, rather than simply a man’s or woman’s problem.
By understanding how we are socialized to perpetrate violence, we can interrupt and ‘unlearn’ violence (violence is learned and can be unlearned).
Humanity is unconditional and we should never have to give up the right to be treated as human beings.
